February 6, 2014: Freak out day

When I checked on the girls on February 6th, someone else had made a comment about them.  I freaked out.

What?

No!

They were mine!

Stay away!

My good friend, Jenny, who loved me enough to tell me what I needed to hear instead of what I wanted to hear, told me this:  "God has placed these girls on your heart-nobody is fighting for them-YOU NEED TO FIGHT FOR THEM! Never be ashamed of fighting for them, and never be ashamed of your strong feelings toward them. Those feelings are from the Lord. Now, you just need to pray for wisdom and clarity about what He is asking of you-pray for them? advocate for them? adopt them? I know that you love these girls!!! You need to be strong enough to pray for someone to adopt them & get them out of there-even if that someone isn't you. And that is SO HARD! But just keep in mind that in Ukraine, the adoption is not legal until you stand before the Ukrainian judge and he approves your adoption. Anytime from now until then, anyone can go in and scoop up those girls. It's so terrifying, but since those girls are in an institution, if they have the opportunity to get out of there sooner, it needs to happen. It could be a matter of life and death. (sorry, not trying to scare you). Ok, I'm done now. Just go at this full force (with Marc's blessing, of course!) with lots of prayer, and God will reveal His will! (And I really hope it's those girls!!!!). But if not, you WILL be okay, and you will be a stronger person, and you will find another adorable boy or girl (or two!) haha"

Oh, how I needed to hear that!

It was about saving lives so that they could be redeemed by God.

It was not about me.

That was something that I thought I understood that morning; it would come much more real in the days to come.

Jenny asked if i would still be interested in learning about the girls; she had a contact who had met them.

Jenny in Ukraine

I said yes.

Luke 9:23: Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.
