October 2012: Meet the Palermos and Gastons; fell in love with Harvest

After our move to North Carolina, we asked around for churches with good programs for families and young children.  We had taken a tour of Hickory Christian Academy, and the principal of the grammar school had recommended we try Hickory Harvest Bible Chapel. Marc researched it online, and we decided to try.  It was an incredible church.  We were moved by the friendship of the congregation, the heart and soul of the worshipers, and the conviction of the sermon.  We were invited to Lifegroups by a couple named John and Sarah Palermo, and after a few weeks, we talked ourselves into going.

Our boys with the Palermo kids...minus Kiah, the newest Palermo!  (Adopted in 2013)

It was great!  Through Lifegroups, we found out that John and Sarah were taking classes in order to foster to adopt, and Alayne, the woman who was our host, had adopted two beautiful girls at birth.  When we found this out, Marc and I both gave each other the look:  Ah!  They've adopted!  We're thinking about doing that someday!

Psalm 68:5-6  Father to the fatherless, defender of widows—
    this is God, whose dwelling is holy.
God places the lonely in families;
    he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.
But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
