Spring 2007: Wrote [Eastern European] orphan research paper

I got my first teaching job in the fall of 2006 at Wynford High School.  I taught Junior and Senior English.

Former students but still good friends!

In the spring of 2007, I decided to teach research writing.  I wrote a sample paper for my students to follow, and I chose the topic that had occupied my mind off and on since my freshman year of college:  orphans from a small country in Eastern Europe.  I talked about the history of the country, the needs of the orphans, and the ways that they could be helped.  I learned all about adoption, and began to dream of adopting kids who were close to aging out.  I imagined we would turn our basement into an apartment and bring a few boys over at a time so that they could learn about God's love and get a good education.  Then, they could choose to stay here in the states or go back to their country.

I smile when I realize that God was preparing my heart for this moment even back then!

Deuteronomy 10:18  He ensures that orphans and widows receive justice. He shows love to the foreigners living among you and gives them food and clothing.
